The UC Berkeley Center for Cities and Schools and Stanford University published a study on financing school facilities in California. Getting Down to Facts II, published in 2018, serves as a “state of the state” on education policy and financing.
Findings include that “local funding sources greatly outstrip state support in California’s system of school facility funding;” “school funding is volatile and has declined since 2006;” and there are wide disparities in funding “systematically related to school district property wealth, household income, and students’ background.”
School financing can play a key role in supporting asthma management, including nursing and other medical services staff, upkeep and maintenance of school facilities to promote healthy indoor air quality, etc.
