AHRQ Releases Brief on Impact of Community Health Worker Certification on Workforce and Service Delivery for Asthma

In March 2020 the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released a technical brief has been released to explore and describe the state of community health worker certifications and the relationship they have with community health worker outcomes, such as recruitment, retention, and employment stability. It also seeks to see the impact on outcomes for people with asthma and other selected chronic illnesses. The researchers found “the impact of CHW certification is more speculative than conclusive. Further research is needed to determine if certification is linked to improved outcomes for people with asthma and other chronic illness outcomes.
