In the November 2020 edition of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, there is an article examining how “accumulated differentials in adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may be associated with adult asthma by racial/ethnic groups.” To investigate, researchers used Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data from 2009 through 2012 to investigate “differences for women and men aged 18 and older across seven racial/ethnic groups.” They found that “ACEs were significantly related to asthma.” They also found that “compared to reference group… asthma risk was significantly greater for Black/African American, American Indian and Alaska Native, White, and multiracial respondents.”
