Academic Pediatric’s May 2019 edition contains an article examining the differences in responses of a child with asthma and their parents. In total, 105 parent-child pairs were used in the study. The researchers found “children were more likely than their parents to report ever having an exercise-induced asthma attack” and that they “’worry a lot’ about developing an asthma attack during exercise.” The researchers also found that children were more confident in using their inhalers correctly. The researchers conclude by suggesting “including child reports during history taking” to “help providers identify children in need of enhanced asthma management.”
