Understand Health Impacts of Air Pollution in California with CARB’s CalHealthMap

In partnership with the Public Health Institute, Oregon State University, and Comite Civico del Valle, the California Air Resources Board has developed CalHealthMap, an interactive tool for understanding the health impacts of air pollution in California neighborhoods. CalHealthMap analyzes health outcomes linked to air pollution, as established in scientific literature, by modeling “excess rates” of Emergency Room visits and all-cause mortality. It focuses specifically on smaller, zip code-areas that can experience disproportionately higher health burdens compared to other regions. This information can be used to target areas where interventions to improve local air quality or other environmental variables could improve population health.
