Updated Asthma Guidelines

The long-awaited updates to the guidelines for the diagnosis, management and treatment of asthma are here!

Developed by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), a part of the National Institutes of Health, the 2020 Focused Updates to the Asthma Management Guidelines are designed to improve patient care and support informed decision making about asthma management in the clinical setting in six priority areas of asthma care.

In addition to the updates, NHLBI released a digital toolkit with a wide range of resources for providers and patients, including at-a-glance guides, factsheets and more. NHLBI also published frequently asked questions.

The new guidelines were also recently featured in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Finally, as 2020 comes to a close, we want to offer our thanks and appreciation for all that you do for people with asthma. The year has been so difficult with the COVID-19 pandemic, struggles for racial justice, political polarization and strife, and so much more. Throughout it all, we have been impressed by how many of you have navigated these difficult waters to continue to support people, families and communities fighting against asthma. Thank you!

Warm regards,
